Who Needs Home Emergency Insurance?
Many of our customers opt for Home Emergency Cover as an extra to their Home Insurance Policy that they hold separately. It essentially compliments your household policy, providing benefits and services which are not normally available under such policies. The home emergency cover will normally provide cover up to a value of £1,000. Many homeowners take this policy out for risks to their boiler for example.
Other covers may include plumbing problems relating to leaking pipes, blocked drains or leaking radiators, toilet blockages, hot water failure, pests such as mice or rats (which are a major issue in cold weather conditions that we are experiencing in the UK at the moment), roofing (where slates have been blown off during a storm or bad weather conditions).
The policy will normally include a call out, labour, parts and materials to carry out emergency repairs or, if at a similar expense, a permanent repair up top £1,000 including VAT. Some policies will also cover, in the event of your property being uninhabitable overnight, overnight accommodation and/or transport to the accommodation required.
